El cantante norteamericano Michael Jackson se vio obligado a vender los derechos de copyright de todas las canciones de Los Beatles, debido a sus abultadas deudas financieras.
Jackson había comprado en 1985 los derechos comerciales de todas las canciones de los Beatles, a pesar del enojo de Paul McCartney, según informó la agencia internacional ANSA.
Pero debido a las grandes deudas financieras que tuvo como consecuencia de un estilo de vida de lujo y para pagar los costos financieros por denuncias de abuso sexual a niños, el considerado “rey del pop” decidió deshacerse de los derechos de esas canciones.
Fue así como el músico vendió a Sony parte de la propiedad de esas canciones, valuadas en unos 1.500 millones de dólares, y utilizó el resto como garantías para sacar préstamos.
Sin embargo, bajo el acuerdo que firmó con Sony, Jackson deberá vender el resto de los derechos comerciales de los temas de Los Beatles para antes del 31 de mayo del próximo año.
Eso dejará al cantante con deudas de hasta 300 millones de dólares, que espera pagar con el dinero que reciba de la compañía discográfica.
